First, i got to go to an awesome olympics brunch at 5am to watch the women's marathon with all these awesome ladies!

Because Kelly is the hostess with the mostest, she even arranged a prediction game for the marathon - which i won! I got a $5 gift card to Play it again sports! SO awesome! I also got to stuff my face with all kinds of amazing treats, which is always winning in my book.
Then after i had just been talking about how i am over budget for my 2012 races, I won a giveaway through Maggie's blog to run Fort 2 Base next month!! So pumped! I wanted to run this race so bad, but just couldn't justify spending any more money on races this year. You have to check out this race - they have the best shirt i have ever seen! And it perfectly fits into my training schedule. It's the little joys in life.
THEN this morning, i got an email from Kelly, informing me i had won her raffle for Pro compression socks! I can't tell you how much i love these babies, and i had to physically restrain myself to keep from ordering more through the latest schwaggle deal! So glad i get them anyway - a sure sign that compression socks and i were meant to be together <3. Seriously, donate to the charity raffles - even if you don't win, you are still winning because you are racking up good karma points.

To be honest, this is about as much as a girl could hope for. I doubt my streak of good luck will go beyond this, but in my opinion, this is pretty damn good. Lets hope another bad streak doesn't com knocking on my door any time soon!

I just checked the weather before I read your post and I was super excited to see the high on Saturday is 75! Yes! The weather is welcoming me back into half marathon training.

DeleteI have a gruesome 15-17 mile run on Saturday, but normally do a nice recovery run on Sundays, of varying distance and location! (to be determined based on how sleepy i am after waking up super early for the mens marathon, haha)
DeleteSounds like a fun brunch. On Sunday, I went for my long run while I recorded the women's marathon. I watched it at 9am. I was hoping that Shalene would hold on and medal, but alas it was not to be. Also, was very disappointed that Desiree Davila was injured. I thought she would be our best shot at a medal. Oh well, maybe the U.S. men will pull off a miracle on Sunday. That fort2base sounds really cool. However, it might be a bit too close to the Chicago Marathon for me to consider. Thanks for reminding me that I need to go out and see "Moonrise Kingdom". Wes Anderson films are always entertaining. Can't think of a bad one. Please keep your lucky streak going into October, because I love those mild temps!

Deleteyes...the weather is simply beautiful here too this week...LOVE! And totally LOVE Compression socks...just wore a pair this AM while running...it was kind of warm but my legs felt great....I know it was the socks that made the difference. ;-)

DeleteI agree that any time you can stuff your face with delicious food and not have to cook it yourself = winning. This break in weather is a-mazing. I am loving it.

ReplyDeleteMy husband is OBSESSED with Wes Anderson and is trying to get me to see Moonrise Kingdom. I do enjoy WA films, but I wasn't sure about a bunch of kids running around. Might have to check it out!
