I am keeping this post short and sweet, because i have only negative things to say about running today. It just kinda hit me that the marathon is fast approaching, and i am in no way mentally prepared for it. And, as i enter what will be a very high mileage week (for me) I am entering it already tired and sore. So it's not like things are going to get any better.
This weekend i had my 14 miler, which was a nice cutback from the 18 miler last week. The only downside was that after the run i felt incredibly sick to my stomach, and had a quarter inch layer of salt on me. It wasn't even hot out - i'm so not ready for summer. I spent saturday afternoon recovering, and then we took waffles to the not yet official logan square dog park. She ran around for an hour, but then she saw another dog being walked along the incredibly busy Western Ave, and she slipped right through the bars of the park to chase it. Luckily the lady walking the other dog was quick enough to grab her before she had a chance to run into the street. I almost had a heart attack.
I promptly signed her up for puppy training classes Saturday evening. They start in two weeks.
Sunday, Matt was nice enough to take me to Pinkberry for some fro-yo, and we did a little urban gardening - he planted dill, basil, parsley, oregeno, rosemary and chives.
Today at work, i made a point to escape to the target to clear out their easter candy section. I made out like a bandit in the jelly bean department (as the photo shows) but they were out of peeps already!! THE HORROR! How am i going to make my game of thrones peep diorama now??
I had a boring weekend full of candy and running, and hopefully you did too! I will be back tomorrow with more interesting things to say, i promise.
PinkBerry? Where is that? *off to google*
ReplyDeleteit's so, so good! There are only two in the city that i know of - one on state st, and one at north and wells. I don't go often because its not convenient, but it is soooo worth the trip!
DeleteIf you ever get a chance, this is my favorite place http://www.yoglimogli.com/index.html
ReplyDeleteahhh! they are opening one in Niles! I would pass by it on my way home from work!!
DeleteKim and I went to pinkberry this weekend too! we are all twins!
ReplyDeleteyour weekend sounds luxurious, mine was filled with the elliptical and sercret life of the american teenager...
also, we just commented on each other's blog at almost the same time. true love i tell ya.
Deletestar crossed yogurt lovers??
DeleteOur dog slipped out of her collar on a walk once after seeing another dog and DID run into the middle of the street in sheer terror. I swear it was a scene from a movie with me yelling, "RILEEEEEEEEY!" and running out int he middle of traffic like a smart adult. She survived, 2 glasses of wine later I did, too. I swear, nothing gets your heart rate up faster than a stupid ass dog running away from you :/
ReplyDeleteSeriously! And i was so aware of the fact that i would never ever EVER be able to catch the little booger. How can a baby be so fast???
DeleteI'd offer you Peeps if our damn dog didn't eat them all. I was this close to hitting Tarjay for some clearance candy today. Thankfully I got a grip.
ReplyDeletethe target was CRAZY! it was like black friday in the candy aisle!
DeleteI'm a really salty sweater, too, and I find it's worse when it's kind of chilly outside. I've been thinking of taking some salt tabs the next time I run long...
ReplyDeleteI am going to be trying a variety of electrolyte products this summer - i hate that sick feeling!
DeleteSo happy Waffles was okay!
ReplyDeleteI noticed I had some salt on my yesterday and I am not a salty sweater at all. This summer is going to blow (for running)!
I am scared for summer. I will seriously run at 4am every morning just to avoid the heat. (which i think will make my new bedtime 7pm)
DeletePinkberry and candy. Could life get any better?
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna say a martini would make it a perfect trifecta. (also, i had a martini sunday night :) )
DeleteI was salty after my long run this weekend too, WTF!
ReplyDeleteRunning in the summer stinks. Training for marathons really stinks. Finishing a marathon is AWESOME. It's worth it....think happy thoughts and pass those Jelly Beans!
